A bald faced lie, issued from someone in a position of power. Used to cover a potential embarrassing situation when they just don't want to admit it, but it's not fooling anyone. Could be as small as an unclaimed fart, or the president of a country fleeing in fear. It is PAINFULLY OBVIOUS NO ONE BELIEVES THE LIAR, but the ones lied to are not in a position to call the liar on it.
