When an influencer, actor, or actress is cast in a role regardless of whether or not they're right for the role instead based on their trending status.
i.e. Pedro Pascal, Timothy Chalamet, and Zendaya were cast in the majority of blockbuster films in the early 2020s based on their ability to attract audiences and box office revenue regardless of their suitability for the role, or in some instances their talent.
Unlike Type Casting where an actor is reliably cast in a particular role.
i.e. the Action Hero is played by Jason Statham, regardless of the film

I wish they would put more effort into casting now a days it seems they just want to put the most Instagram, and Tiktok famous people in movies man, it sucks. Hype Casting totally ruins movies, cast people who can actually act!

Get the hypemug. A popular and/or exciting trend. The only reason most people are excited about it is because of the peer-pressure or crowd mentality. Often used on streaming platforms as an on-the-nose way to pressure people into donating to a streamer.
People went crazy when Taylor Swift came to town, but most of them were just getting on the hype train.
