A pop-punk singer created by a record company to make themselves millions. Although hated by the majority of people with a brain (and those who like to think they posess such a thing), they succeeded in their mission.
Often hated by people who like to put themselves on a peddlestool and exclaim that they know "the true meaning of punk!"
Also french for April.

Avril Lavigne

Avril Ramona Lavigne was born to a French-born father, John, and a Franco-Ontarian mother, Judy, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada on September 27, 1984. Her father named her Avril after the month "April" in French.She has an older brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle.Lavigne's mother was the first to spot young Lavigne's talent. At the age of two, Lavigne began singing church songs along with her mother. The family moved to Napanee, Ontario, when Lavigne was five years old.

In 1998, Lavigne won a competition to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain on her first major concert tour. She appeared alongside Twain at her concert in Ottawa, appearing on stage to sing "What Made You Say That". She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabri, while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario. During a performance with the Lennox Community Theatre, Lavigne was spotted by local folk singer Steve Medd, who invited her to contribute vocals on his song, "Touch the Sky", for his 1999 album, Quinte Spirit. She also sang on "Temple of Life" and "Two Rivers" for his follow up 2000 album, My Window to You.
Despite the fact that most people hate her because she is a "punk poser" she never claimed to be punk.She is a POP singer.Some people say she is the worst singer ever...have you heard artists like rihanna and katy perry?And at least she doesn't use sex appeal like lady gaga and britney spears.

Avril lavigne is NOT punk.But if I wanna listen to punk,I'll listen to bands like the sex pistols,the ramones,the misfits,sham 69,the distillers,bikini kill,social distortion,pennywise,etc.

Avril

Avril in the French-Canadian language actually means "April". I don't know of any "Punk-rockers" named April. Besides not being able to sing live, she shouldn't be covering any artists! Like Blink182 "All the Small Things" or Green Day "Basket Case".

I also read in a commentary that she never skateboarded or snowboarded in her life, it was propaganda to promote her new CD, back when she first came out. When the producer asked her to skate in on the opening of "Complicated" she freaked out because she had never done it before.

Avril knows that she's hated so much that's why she fell out of the media. Do we know where she is now?

Avril did a photo shoot for major magazines, one magazine showed her and about 3 fake tattoo's that she was showing off. During Avril's "Basket Case" cover she messed up the lyrics, didn't move around the stage at all, and was trying way to hard to look punk.

Avril Lavigne

A Canadian singer who is often known as a "wannabe." I personally really like Avril, but I understand why many people don't like her. She's not afraid to be herself and is a very open person. A lot of people think that she has changed after her first two albums, when in reality, she just grew up. A lot of people also think that she is a punk singer. Those people have obviously not done there research because she has said multiple times that she is not punk nor sings punk songs. Some of her songs are punk influenced, but she's not a punk singer. She is a pop-rock singer. I will admit that a lot of people don't like her because they think she is a snob. Yes, in a couple of songs she has said some bratty things, but you can't judge a person on their song lyrics. I think she is very talented and if people would just overlook her so called "wanna be" image, they'd realize she is a great singer and song writer. And for all those haters, can you sing or write better than her? If so, keep on hating.

a talented musician who is very often judged. who ever said she sings punk? and if your calling her a slut, im sorry but you have the wrong definition. a slut is someone like ke$ha (im not saying i hate her), lady gaga(nothing on her either). not avril. i do like her better when she was more tomboy and wrote songs like sk8r boi, im with you, and let go. however i must say that girlfriend, when your gone, and the best damn thing arent bad.
