A term referring to when one's gender and sex are not always or ever equivalent. Often used as a referrant to the person themself.

This is a broad term that includes transexual (pre/non or post-op), non-gender, bi (tri & multi) gender, androgynes, etc.

The state of being transgendered may or may not have any bearing on sexual preferences.

Jen was born a female, but as a person is a man.

Bob was born a male, but as a person is a woman.

Karen was born a female, but as a person has no gender.

John was born a male, but as a person switches gender.

and so on..

Transgender 

When ones biological sex does not match up with their gender identity. This includes non binary people. There are 2 categories under the Transgender umbrella. Trans binary, and trans non binary. Trans binary is transferring from male to female or female to male. Trans non binary is going from your biological sex to a gender that isn't male or female. (Ex. Agender, non binary, gender fluid, trans masc, trans fem, bi gender.)

Person 1: Hey, I want you to know that I am transgender.
Person 2: Cool! What pronouns do you want me to use
Person 1: *insert pronouns they are comfortable with*

FTM Transgender: Person born female with a male brain.

MTF Transgender: Person born male with a female brain.

Most importantly it is NOT a mental illness.

I am transgender.

A person (either male or female), who desires to become the person that they most identify with, psychologically & spiritually.
Transgendered individuals are not necessarily homosexual & we are definitely NOT child molesters.
If those ignorant morons, who spread these disgusting rumors about us got to know us, they would think quite differently.
There is a major difference between sex & gender:
1. Sex is between the legs.
2. Gender is between the ears.

Another example,if your name is Zach (boy) and you are now a female,you can change your name. And your actual name is now your dead name.

transgender is a umbrella term of a person who identifys as the opposite gender. if you were afab and you become transgender you are a transmac a female who identifys as a male. if you were amab you would be transfem etc.

Transphobe 1: "ewwww! did you know that Person 1 is transgender? so gross.."

Transphobe 2: "ew! like just be *MALE*!!!! like HE cant be transgender!"

1. A transgender transcends cultural gender norms.
2. A European woman who wore pants in 1910 was a transgender because she violated current cultural gender stereotypes of the day.
