(Noun pl. "shinies")
A new initiate or member of a group, club, or organization, esp. fraternities and sororities.

Usually someone is labelled this immediately after initiation, pinning, or joining the organization, until the next group of people join. Used both affectionately and to patronize in a mentor-like way.

All you shinies, make sure you remember to make it to the general meeting Sunday!

I was talking to an enthusiastic shiny yesterday, I think they will spur us all on this semester.

A girl who is very attractive to the point where when she walks into a room, the sentence which was coming out of your mouth drifts off into mindless mumblings. comes from the fact that guys are distracted by two things, hot girls and shiny objects, hence shiny girl.

"ok, i really dont understand what to do with matrix in (girl enters room) maba lemer cma.... dude that girl is so shiny!"

Adjective describing someone who desires a bump of any powdered drug for the purpose of avoiding the comedown and continuing the high. The term relates to another phrase, powder one's nose. The mainstream understanding of "powder one's nose," however, has forced users to come up with this similar reference to "needing a bump." Mostly self-proclaimed and used in settings (such as a party or a club) in which not all people present are aware that drugs are present. The declaration usually precedes one or more users retreating to a more private atmosphere, such as a bathroom, to snort the drug.

(During a crowded house party celebrating Mike's birthday, Alex rises from his chair and begins weaving through the people. On his way to the bathroom, he meets his friend, Chris, a fellow cokehead.)

Chris - How you doin', bud?
Alex - I'm going to the bathroom; I'm shiny. You want to join me?
Chris - Right behind you.
