quid in the till

An old Australian expression for a turd that has been left floating in the toilet bowl. Derived from the days before decimal currency when a pound note (a quid) was left in the cash register ("the till")

An old English saying that generally means someone who "Isn't quite there" or is slightly loopy or crazy.
