originated in Maynard, MA in the 1970s it first started by cling someone a meatball, then it turned into meatball to just mreet. It is used when someone does something stupid. it is also used as a greeting to other maynardians to say hi.

Bob scored for the wrong team, someone in the audience yelled, "mreet!."

Larry walked into the bar he was greeted by his friends with a, "Mreet!"
