A phrase that describes how some people who don’t know much just go around guessing the answers to everything in order to appear as if they know something.

Yeah, at one time I thought he was a master of trivia but then I realized he had only mastered the art of appearing confidently knowledgeable while he was actually going on guesses.

guesstrapolate

To make a prediction or extend a line of thought toward a conclusion based on uncertain or insufficient information.

Since there are so many planets like earth in the universe, there must be other intelligent life, but I'm just guesstrapolating.

I can only guesstrapolate that given her history of blunders and her ignorance of history, the Constitution, and geography, Sarah Palin could never be elected president.

They say serial killers have a history of animal abuse, fire starting, and bed wetting, but that's really only guesstrapolating

To attempt to make a concept work or achieve a milestone/goal/objective, ignoring already proven best practices and others mistakes, and naively guessing what the best path to success is, and in the process re-creating the wheel while thinking you are inventing the wheel.

When starting a business your guessecution relies on assuming your assumptions are right and proceeding without seeking advice. Often learning the hard way.
