An exclamation, similar to great scott!, making its first appearance in the Wonder Woman comic Sensation Comics #7 (July 1942). Later popularized by cracked.com in its article "The 6 Most Pointless Supervillain Schemes".

I was born in Calamity Flats but moved to Sacradementia when dad got laid off by Weyerhauser.

Calamite was briefly, and infrequently, used as a euphemism for homosexuality early in the 20th Century. It referred to a group of Walt Whitman's poems that celebrated love between men, the Calamus cluster.

An alarmist climate scientist or other gloom-and-doomster
There was a strong surface warming between the 1890s and the 1940s, followed by a pronounced cooling (and warnings of a catastrophic ice age by some of the same calamitologists who now claim disastrous warming) from the 1940s to the 1970s, then rising temperatures again from the 1970s to today.
