In marching band, 8 to 5 (or 22.5 inches) is the standard step size used. 8 steps to 5 yards.

For the parade, we will all be marching 8 to 5 to help keep uniformity among the band.

a term used to describe extremely biased officiating in the NBA.

The phrase comes from the fact that a game usually consists of 5 players vs 5 other players, but with the addition of the three referees helping one team predominately.

It is a term commonly heard on construction sites to discreatly mention an attractive woman walking by or in the area.
