the ball is in your court

a direct English transliteration of the french expression " la balle est dans ton camp" this expression means either

a) it is now your turn to play

or

b) it is now up to you on what to do/what decision to take
mother: Angela, why are you doing drugs? I now give you choices: either you leave your current boyfriend Brandon and stop with your drugs, or you can leave this house and move in with him; in which case I will want to have nothing to do with your life. The ball is in your court.

Angela: I would like to commit suicide.

mother: that's not an option. i am taking you right now for a psyche eval.

Supreme Court

A compound verb where an argument being made is made with minimal effort and then masked with clever sounding words.

In the April 2025 Supreme Court ruling For Women Scotland vs The Scottish ministers the ruling used the phrase "These are assumed to be self-explanatory and to require no further explanation", which is a variation on the "this is left as an exercise for the reader" and "It is self-evident that...", both forms of "Proof by Intimidation" used by junk science
- I can't be bothered explaining, I'll just Supreme Court it and hope they don't challenge me.
- "Did you just Supreme Court this and hope nobody would notice?"
- "Well, honestly... it's clearly self-evident?"

court case in a can

Cody's Bourbon and Cola - well known as "court case in a can" in New Zealand. Named as such due to the frequency of violence and police call outs related to consumers of Cody's. Consumed by obnoxious 12 year-olds getting drunk in city skate parks, through to hard blokes and sheilas in rural New Zealand.
Originally 12% alcohol, they have slowly been getting reduced down in alcohol strength (7% as of 2022) due to pressure from police and politicians.
You crack the first court case in a can and suddenly it's tomorrow, you've got no shirt on and you're wearing somebody else's jandals.

Racquetball court

If a tennis court is a giant ping pong table with a fence around it, a racquetball court is a giant folded up ping pong table.
The wall on a racquetball court is like the folded up part of a folded up ping pong table, whether you hit the ball with a racquet, a stick, your hands, or your feet.

Is the midget standing on the ping pong table again?

Supreme Court

Is the final court of appeal of the UK and replaced the Law Lords. Due to parliamentary sovereignty cannot overturn primary legislation, but can overturn secondary legislation, if it is found to be ultra vires (illegal). Created by the outgoing Labour Government in Oct 2009 with the express mandate of making the life of all subsequent Tory Governments an absolute nightmare. The only qualification required of the appointed 12 judges is that they be complete and utter wankers.
Appellant A: Do you know which of those Supreme Court judges are sitting on our case.
Appellant B: No, and I wouldn't raise your hopes to high, I'm told they don't know their arses from their elbows.
Appellant A: I guess they'll just lean on their elbows!
