Big Ups

An exclamatory term usually proclaimed for a positive, surprising, or celebratory event. The volume at which it's said, any additional adjectives or sentence enhancers, or duration determines the level in its hierarchical context.

Friend: "Man, I just broke up with my ball and chain girlfriend today"

You: "Big Ups man!! You're free again, let's go find some ass to help you out!!"

Wheels up

The point in a journey where you have officially left your starting point and begun traveling to your destination. Your bags are loaded, your kids are strapped in, your fully gassed up, food is packed, and you can officially announce your ETA. For people who run late all the time, this communicates that you have completed procrastinating and are done going back inside to grab “one more thing”. It comes from aviation jargon where your wheels leave the runway and you can fold up the landing gear.

In order to arrive at the park by noon, we need to be wheels up by 11:30!
OK, homie, I am finally wheels up, be there in 10 minutes.

Up in Maryland

This phrase is typically used as a codeword for "indisposed" by guys from the Northern Virginia (NOVA) area when they are stuck in close-quarters scenarios with girls in Maryland (usually tourists) and need to convey to their bros that they can't rid of or away from the females as easily as they thought, so other plans may be cancelled.

Scene: A guy from NOVA meets up with a couple of girls visiting the DC area who happen to be staying in Maryland. The planned meet runs long and the guy ends up escorting the girls around for hours due to multiple flight delays. While they are in the NOVA guy's truck, driving aimlessly, the phone rings.
NOVA Guy 1: Hello.
NOVA Guy 2: Yo man, what's going on? You still up for this party or what?
NOVA Guy 1: Nah bro, I'm still up in Maryland.
NOVA Guy 2: Ah, shit. My bad...
Later in the day:
NOVA Guy 2: So what happened with those girls up in Maryland?
NOVA Guy 1: Man, I couldn't get those bitches outta my truck.

A haphazard creation, made from unconventional parts or methods. A way of making something work, although it may be missing key parts.

"I only had a cardboard box and a box of adult diapers, but I managed to rig up quite a comfortable sleeping arrangement!"

"You know, from a distance, the carnival rides looked safe but, upon closer inspection, I noticed that they were rigged up with duct tape!"
