Haptic Ghosting

Hap-tic Ghost-ing
/ˈhap-tik ˈɡō-stiŋ/
noun

The unsettling sensation of feeling a phone vibration, tap, or buzz that never actually happened—usually right after you’ve been ignored, left on read, or cut off emotionally. Often blamed on anxiety, anticipation, or the modern brain being permanently on “notification watch.”
Symptoms may include: checking your phone repeatedly, swearing it vibrated, and mild embarrassment when you realize it didn’t.
“I thought my phone buzzed, but it was just haptic ghosting after she stopped replying.”

Ghost Shark

A dropkick who rocks up to a barbie empty-handed, defends the '81 underarm bowl, and completely vanishes exactly two minutes before it’s their turn to shout a round.
"Davo pulled an absolute ghost shark last night—drank my last stubbie, said Pavlova is Kiwi, and gapped it right before the pub called last drinks."

Ghost Echo

The emotional after‑image of a past relationship dynamic that shows up even when the person no longer has power. It’s not them — it’s the leftover reflex your body learned from years of instability. A Ghost Echo isn’t a memory; it’s a muscle twitch in the nervous system. It fires when you enter an old environment, hear an old tone, or anticipate an old pattern — even though you’re no longer living inside it.

A Ghost Echo feels real, but it has no present‑day source. It’s just the residue of who you had to be to survive someone you’ve already outgrown.
ctually bother me — but my body flinched for half a second, like it expected the old chaos. That wasn’t her. That was a Ghost Echo: the leftover reflex from years of bracing for someone I don’t live under anymore.
