Noob: a beginner, ignorant git, bastard, idiot. Although once used as an insult, nowadays it is commonly thrown out in chat for no apparent reason.
Noobs are no to collect in 'tribes'; and unorganized group of noobs who chat, horse around, and generally cause minor chaos. Often use 'Noobish Language' which consists if numbers in the place of letters, improper grammar, and vulgar slang. Often noobs accuse fellow noobs of being noobs, which start 'Noob Scuffles' in which the noobs argue over who is better at no scoping, who is noobier and who has more 'skillz'. You'll find large concentration of them in Hack Forums, Minecraftcraf, Halo, and other shooting games.
Often referred to as n00bs, newbies, newbs, and stupid.

Not to be mistaken with newbie, who is fairly new to a game, that doesn't know what is good and what isn't, and isn't a very skilled player initially.
A noob is a person in online gaming, who has played the game long enough to know what is powerful or not or what is frowned upon, but lacks an sufficient amount of skill, and often relies on the most powerful game mechanics, cheap tactics, and sometimes resorting to cheating/hacking/boosting/exploiting that are frowned upon to do decent in a game.
An honerable player is someone who can play decently often using lower tiered weapons, and mechanics. And plays fairly, often giving the opposition a chance at victory.
