cotton wool parents

Metaphorical term for parents who overprotect their children. Everything is too dangerous for them, their children aren't allowed to participate in active sports or outdoor activities at all.

Camp Manager: You may want to have a word with Mdm. Lee, she checks on her son every 2 hours and that's against camp policy.
Camp Counsellor: Oh him.He's got cotton wool parents. I've had enough of those.
Camp Manager: Short of banning her from the campsite, is there anything else we could do?

Lawn Mower Parent

Named after the device to cut your grass. A lawn mower parent is a parent who intervenes or "mows down" any inconvenience or discomfort that stands before their child.

At a fast food restaurant*

note* the teen is shy and is afraid to order it for them self

15 year old: Mom, I want to get an ice cream.

Mother: (Instead of telling their child to grow tf up) Okay, I'll get it for you. What do you want honey?

Teen 1: Dude, why isn't that kid getting his own order?

Teen 2: I don't know bro, probably has Lawn Mower parents

A really funny movie with Ben Stiller and Robert Deniro. Stiller plays the nurse boyfriend of Deniro's daughter. The movie is about Stiller meeting his girlfriend's parents but her father (Deniro) doesn't like him very much.

A male nurse named Gaylord Focker is the funniest thing ever.

Facebook Parent

A facebook friend, you may or may not know well, who gives parental advice on every update they read. You think about deleting them as a friend every time you see you have an update from them.

-Mary: Having a bad day; wish I had more money.

-Facebook Parent: Mary I know a great financial planner who could help you. Also my sister in law is a credit counselor I really think you need to learn about money management.

-Mary: Last night was insane I cant even remember his name but I hope I see him again!

-Facebook Parent: Mary you should be careful you could have been killed! What if you end up being pregnant you wont even know who the father is!!

I posted pics of my birthday party on Facebook today and Elisabeth commented that I need to wear clothes that cover more and that I should take some pictures when Im not holding a bottle! She is such a Facebook Parent!
