“LEPANDYè,” known in English as a “stage crasher” or “fan on stage,” describes a fan who gets so caught up in the excitement of a live performance that they find themselves joining the musicians on stage.
This term, originating from Haitian Creole, embodies the passion and spontaneity of fans who step beyond their role as spectators, akin to a “stage prop” that unexpectedly comes to life. It was introduced by Rene Guemps, CEO and Founder of Negre Marron Records to acknowledge those who show their love for music in the most direct way possible, adding an unpredictable and dynamic element to the performance, much like a well-placed prop can add depth to a scene.

At last night’s show, a LEPANDYÈ couldn’t resist the rhythm and hopped on stage, becoming an impromptu part of the performance, almost like a stage prop that suddenly decided to join the dance!

I felt a strong sense of limpatience as I kept glancing out the window, waiting for the pizza delivery man to arrive.
