banya boy

A colloquial term for a banschik-the attendant or sauna master in a Russian or Eastern European banya (steam bath). A banya boy is responsible for maintaining the steam room, preparing bath brooms (venik), and leading traditional rituals such as steam sessions and venik massages for guests.

He worked as a banya boy in a famous Russian spa, giving guests venik massages in the steam baths and leading sauna ceremonies.
