Tourettes Design

That single one flawed, yet harmless, element in an otherwise perfect design. Meaning that the designing process of the product was running smoothly until someone decided to have an engineering tic episode in the middle of it. A tourettes design does not bring down the overall performance, however, the consumer might not be able to quite let it go.

Etymology:

Said by that asian dude with a British accent about the Sony RX-1 compact camera in the popular photography webshow iDigitalRevTV/i.

"If only they didn't put this giant, glowing orange ring around the shaft of the lense. Everything else looks pretty nice; nice, clean lines, pretty minimal design. So the orange ring looks kind of like a tourettes design. Orange ring!"

When any form of a designer can't come up with creative ideas. Similar to writer's block in the sense that nothing gets done.

A school on 57th and 2nd ave in Manhattan. It's basically filled with drugged out artists and a bunch of losers that play hacky sack and smoke cigaweed.

urban design

A cult consisting of college educated civic engineering enthusiasts, who usually work for architects, developers, or politicians, who belive the answer to all social ills is through the destruction of classic or historical buildings and (affordable) spaces, to be replaced with a modern (or post-modern) design of buildings, neighborhoods, and public spaces that are high rent, unaffordable, but considered utopian by their proponents. Upon challenging these notions on the basis of historical preservation, or as a critque against gentirfication, epthets like "stuck in the past" and "Republican" are offered ad hominum.

I'm sure the Mexicans would love our urban design elements in our mixed use building plan, once we are allowed to raze the existing neighborhood.
