Drop dime means to rat someone out, or reveal information, in any situation. It derived from late 1960's and 70's South, where there were 33 fires a day at one point, and crime was the highest it ever was. Thus, many people would rat to save thier own ass, and they'd use a dime because that's what it cost.

Get the drop a dimemug. a location (typically a corner, or a house) where a vendor is illegally distributing drugs (often marijuana, may be other substances) in ten dollar lots. Usually a signal is required (a special knock on the door, code words, certain apparel, etc) by the customer, and the vendor responds anonymously by a covert method of delivering the product (a drive to another corner, slipping the product under a door, lowering the product from a window, etc).
I used to get so freaked out when I'd hit up the local dime spots. Aside from getting a ticket from the five o, there was also the chance you'd have some goons try to mug you for money or shit.
