When used as a slang term, "violence" is a synonym for modern
AAA video games, particularly those that are action-oriented and feature
intense combat, conflict, or aggressive gameplay. This term excludes indie games and older titles released prior to "Mortal Kombat" (1992), which are often perceived as less graphic or impactful.
When my friends talk about violence in gaming, they’re usually referring to the latest
AAA titles that
push the boundaries of graphics and gameplay, not the
charming pixel art of indie games.
