Especialy true if you know the releationship has little or no meaning/future but you want to string it out anyway even though its gonna cause shit ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, friend of a brother/sister, close workmate or enemy of best mate are usually the other person

To use one's own product or service. Originally applied to software companies using their own software in-house, the meaning can extend to any situation that might impose some burden on customers, clientele, constituency, co-workers, etc.
