Get the horsefeathers mug.Another word for steroid abuse. This term originates from UFC Heavyweight Alistair Overeem's declaration that he "doesn't take steroids;" he "eats horse meat." This statement was in the midst of many allegations of illegal steroid abuse by the fighter after he went from a lanky kick boxer to a lean 265 lb "Demolition Man."

Get the Horse Meat mug.Horsmaning, or fake beheading, was reportedly a popular way to pose in a photograph in the 1920′s. Sometimes spelled horsmaning, the horsmaning photo fad derives its name from the Headless Horseman, an evil character from “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” According to internet legend, the “original” horsmaning photo on the left was found at a local flea market. Soon after its discovery, a series of horsemaning photos began trending on sites like Buzzfeed and people got inspired to recreate the horseman. Horsmaning is experiencing currently a revival and is best known as a new form of planking, owling or cone-ing.

These people were, to my knowledge, formerly known as "roommates," in virtually all contexts.
Housemate seems to be merely one of the many trendy terms being tossed around these days.
Here are possible reasons for this word's existence:
A) Perhaps it's supposed to have less of the negative stigma that the word "roommate" seems to carry with it.
B) Also possible is that roommate implies a closer relationship/friendship than simply housemate.
