That feel-good, rewarding chemical in your brain that’s released when you do or see something that makes you happy.

Doing one of your favourite hobbies, watching your favourite show, seeing someone who makes you feel good, or enjoying literally anything else can cause your brain to release dopamine.

dopamine detox

During a dopamine detox, a person avoids dopamine triggers for a set period of time — anywhere from an hour to several days.

The dopamine detox requires a person to avoid any kind of arousal, specifically from pleasure triggers. Anything that stimulates dopamine production is off-limits throughout the detox.

Ideally, by the end of the detox, a person will feel more centered, balanced, and less affected by their usual dopamine triggers. Allowing them to pursue their goals with minimal distraction

Dopamine Blast

A sudden feeling of joy brought on by dopamine being released in the brain. Its a sudden feeling of happiness caused by such things as shopping, doing well on a test, and smoking up. Any time you notice a sudden, positive mood alteration, you are experiencing a dopamine blast.

Kelsey: "I just got an A+ in orgo, dopamine blast!!!".

Nick: "What a nerd..."

Kelsey: "Whatever, someone needs to get off the haterade".

Dopamine Robber

Anyone from the opposite sex that gets you smiling at first, over the thought of her/him, but is way too charming and endearing to the point where you risk getting addicted. Until one day, you wake up realizing your brain is suddenly incapable of producing natural endorphins because that amazing person of the opposite sex unknowingly robbed the dopamine receptors in your brain. (The somewhat psychological definition.)

Someone who is like a drug you get addicted to and so then you gotta dig yourself out of a hole. (The layman's term definition.)

-Riley: "I just saw you not too long ago and you seemed happy, what happened?"

-Madison: "Yeah well I met this boy who was a total dopamine robber. I'm through playing with fire."

-Riley: "That sucks."

-Madison: "Trust me, you never wanna form a crush on a dopamine robber. It's dangerous. You might as well take up cocaine for a hobby."
