Noun:Toubab is a Central and West African name for a person of European descent ("whites"). Used most frequently in the Gambia, Senegal, and Mali, the term does not have derogatory connotations by itself, though it is also frequently associated with "wealthy traveller" (if one can afford to travel, then he/she must be rich). VERB: to toubab (usually in matters of price and money) is the action of treating an individual or group differently due to nationality/appearance on the basis that it would be beneficial to the toubaber to do so. When toubabing has taken place, the recepients are often inconvenienced and regretful of the actions that led them to become toubabed and therefore are more wary and cautious to avoid such actions in the future.
