In this book, humans' dreams are being controlled by beings known as Edows. These Edows play a role similar to Freddy Krueger, tormenting the humans' dreams and giving them constant anxiety in the "Conscious Land". One major Edow in this book is Edow Robert who is the supreme ruler of the Edows. He takes the form of a twisted teddy bear and haunts the dreams of Billy Knight and most of the residents of Birmingham until they commit suicide.
