cereal monogamy

The custom or practice of eating only one type of cereal at a time. Cereal monogamists view the casual alternation of cereals, or, worse, mixing different cereals in the same bowl, to be simply wrong.

Not to be confused with serial monogamy.

"I eat Cheerios for breakfast. I eat only Cheerios; no other cereals. Cheerios are the greatest thing since sliced bananas! Wait-- I'm out of Cheerios... time to get some more cereal... I eat Frosted Flakes for breakfast. No other cereals; just Frosted Flakes."
That's an example of cereal monogamy.

Parallel monogamy

The practice of having multiple sexually or romantically committed relationships at the same time, with the consent of all partners involved, with the goal of finding a monogamous life partner. It is more time efficient than serial monogamy.

She decided parallel monogamy was the only way to find the father of her future children before her biological clock ran out.

A practice by which a person experiences a large number of short-lived romantic relationships or "flings." Those engaged in this practice probably have had numerous sexual partners but have not engaged in cheating or infideloutous behavior.

People engaged in serial monogamy use it as a tool to avoid marriage and any other long term commitments and could be labeled "commitment phobes."

Musical Monogamy

This occurs when a person discovers a particular band or artist and becomes obsessed with them and wont listen to anything else for a long period of time, buys band merchandise and feels the uncontrollable need to make their friends listen to it. Often an intervention is required to rescue a friend from this annoying condition. Interventions usually occur on long road trips, forcing passengers to go to extreme measures such as ejecting the cd and throwing it out the window when the affected friend is not looking.

When Todd discovered the Kings of Leon, he was sucked into a state of musical monogamy. He insisted on listening to Kings of Leon and nothing else for months. Eventually his friends got so burned out they had to intervene. When Todd stopped at the gas station, Ross took every KOL cd out of the player and hid them from Todd. After the initial shock wore off and Todd went through the withdrawal process they proceeded with the road trip with a wide variety of tunes.

This term refers to couples that engage in deviant sexual acts and practices for physical pleasure and/or a psychological thrill.
