A prentetious, over-used theatre word used by pretentious theatre people when they are trying to sound intellegent. A 'reverse parody' or 'dramatic caricature'. A serious or sincere version of a silly or childish original concept or idea.
There's been a recent trend in taking old characters from childhood cartoons and transforming them into dramature for a now adult-age audience.
