Battle of the Britpop refers to a hotly contested chart battle between the British bands Blur and Oasis. Blur's single "Country House" faced off against Oasis' "Roll With It" when both singles dropped on the exact same day, August 14, 1995. Blur first won the battle when "Country House" outsold "Roll With It", but Oasis ulitmatly won the war with "What's the Story, (Morning Glory)" outselling Blur's album in total sells.
