Militant Atheism

Militant atheism is a term applied to atheism which is hostile towards religion. Historically, the main usage of the term refers to the doctrine advocating the propagation of atheism among the masses, as well as the combating of religion as a harmful aberration, which was often undertaken by atheist states. This application of the term was an integral part of the materialism of Marxism-Leninism, and significant in the French Revolution, the Soviet Union, and Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.
Student: Have there ever been any antireligious extremists?

Professor: Yes, in the Soviet Union for example, militant atheism was official doctrine; churches, mosques, and temples were liquidated and those that remained were forbidden to give to the poor or carry on educational activities. Moreover, thousands of believers were imprisoned or executed.

r/atheism

I can't believe r/atheism's front page still consists of facebook arguments with fundies, Richard Dawkins quotes, and self-righteous self-criticism. It's worse than r/circlejerk.

r/atheism

By far the most retarded subreddit to ever exist
it is more like a cult than a community

a cult that hates on anyone who does not agree with them

and whenever you ask them something instead of answering you 5 of them gather and mock you for even daring to slightly believe in a higher being
Redditor: Thank god Johnny Depp won the case against Amber Heard.
r/atheism clown: Thank "god"? god didn't make him win, my love for satanism and ignorance did
Redditor:Man wtf

Atheism 3.0

Atheism 3.0 is a movement within atheism that denies the existence of God, yet maintains that faith provides meaning and purpose for millions of believers, inspires people to tend to each other and build communities, gives them a sense of union with a transcendent force, and provides numerous health benefits.
Jay does not adhere to militant atheism, but rather Atheism 3.0. He denies the existence of God but still believes that religion is a valuable part of civilization.

sanctimonious atheism

a term that not only perfectly describes a kind of hypocritically high-minded atheism but also has the added benefit of being very funny due to the fact that it is even intelligible (coined by author / blogger Frank Portman, 2006)
Let's go to Ophelia's house for a few drinks ... Actually, on second thought, let's not, the whole sanctimonious atheism thing gets old really fast.

atheism

Atheism, in fact, has NOTHING to do with Satanism. We do not all hate Christians. We're not all evil.

Besides, just by being intolerant and judgemental of Atheists, you are sinning. :)
" 'To be godless is probably the first step towards innocence,' he said, 'to lose the sense of sin and subordination, the false grief for things supposed to be lost.'
'So by innocence you mean not an absense of experience, but an absense of illusions.'
'An absense of need for illusions,' he said. 'A love of and respect for what is right before your eyes.' "

Atheism

The idea that there is no god. That's it.
Distance yourself from r/Atheism and the stereotype all atheists are whiny intolerant assholes who poke fun at innocent theists. Yes, there are some atheists that act like that, but the average atheist (think next door neighbour) is not like that.
Atheism is often associated with Nihilism. In some ways they are very similar, such as the rejection of religion. But there are other philosophical paths that do not involve religion, just as good as each other.
Atheism rejects the idea that there is an afterlife after we die.
