A lot of people view anime as its own thing, however, anime is nothing more than a Japanese cartoons, and since this is Japan, it has it's own special features, however, THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT ITS OWN MEDIA.

Anime in Japanese literally means Animation, that means that in Japan even a Disney cartoon would be considered Anime.
Plural of Anime is Anime.

Anime characters don’t pull shit on you. They don’t stab you in the back and blackmail you. They don’t break up with you or ignore you. They don’t stop being friends with you after four years without explaining why. Sure they don’t exist, but they’re better than 90% of the people that do.

I prefer anime over humans.
