Diva-Shaming is the practice of criticizing people, especially women and girls, who are perceived to violate expectations of behavior and appearance regarding issues related to their personality and style. The term is used to reclaim the word diva and empower women and girls to have and embrace their individual identity.
Examples of diva-shaming include being criticized or outcasted for: over dressing, being different, pampering themselves, being confident, smelling good, looking good, wearing makeup, being curvy, standing out, wearing false lashes, wearing acrylic nails, wearing sunglasses indoors, wearing high heels, having a lot of clothes, being particular, having preferences, over packing, wearing wigs, frequently changing hair styles, etc
Common Statements that can be offensive to divas: “Your doing too much.”, “Your so extra.“, “Keep it simple.”, “Why are you so dressed up?”, “You have too many clothes.”, “How do you wipe your butt with those long nails?”, “Your hair is so long, does it ever fall in the toilet?”, “How do you walk in those heel? They are so unhealthy.” “Do you ever wear your real hair?”

Diva-Shamer: “Omg girl we are just going to the grocery store. Why are you so dressed up?
Diva: “Sis, stop with the diva-shaming. That energy is killing the vibes.”

The extra time spent sitting on the toilet waiting for other patrons of the men's room to leave. Usually occurs in corporate settings after malodorous toilet episodes.
"I had like a 7 minute shame delay because my boss was in the crapper next to me."
"I knew the guy in the stall next to me began a shame delay, but there was no way I was coming out first. However, after 4 minutes of silence we both gave up and went to wash our hands. It was awkward."
