Diva-Shaming is the practice of criticizing people, especially women and girls, who are perceived to violate expectations of behavior and appearance regarding issues related to their personality and style. The term is used to reclaim the word diva and empower women and girls to have and embrace their individual identity.

Examples of diva-shaming include being criticized or outcasted for: over dressing, being different, pampering themselves, being confident, smelling good, looking good, wearing makeup, being curvy, standing out, wearing false lashes, wearing acrylic nails, wearing sunglasses indoors, wearing high heels, having a lot of clothes, being particular, having preferences, over packing, wearing wigs, frequently changing hair styles, etc

Common Statements that can be offensive to divas: “Your doing too much.”, “Your so extra.“, “Keep it simple.”, “Why are you so dressed up?”, “You have too many clothes.”, “How do you wipe your butt with those long nails?”, “Your hair is so long, does it ever fall in the toilet?”, “How do you walk in those heel? They are so unhealthy.” “Do you ever wear your real hair?”
Diva-Shamer: “Omg girl we are just going to the grocery store. Why are you so dressed up?

Diva: “Sis, stop with the diva-shaming. That energy is killing the vibes.”
