A thin film that covers paved surfaces in urban areas and makes them slightly darker and somewhat slippery. Found with greater frequency near dumpsters and in front of restaurants that serve greasy food.

Due to not having alleys and piling their garbage on sidewalks NYC has a greater prevalence of street lotion as compared to other US cities.
