THOT Speak: The vernacular of the
THOT (“That Ho Over There”) sub-community that proliferates across the “reality show” landscape and on
TikTok.
It is the way THOTs communicate to exhibit their thotness. Like its predecessors, “Valley
Girl” and “Vocal Fry”, it has its own: affectation, cadence, community, drawl, global appeal, lingo, mass acceptance into mainstream speech (albeit often grudging acceptance), pattern, pitch, points of inflection, pop culture influence, rate of dispersion, regional or social saturation of social media, speed, similarity, spread, word drop-off, vibrato, vocality, and volume. In other
words,
THOT Speak is the way that THOTs talk—often when they are thirsty for the attention they constantly seek. It is shared across all ages, classes, genders, identities, orientations, and personal attributes.
Guy: “Shawty/Shorty, if I get that
face, feet, hair and nails beat, wrap that waist in couture, light that wrist in bling, and cop you a whip, can I tap that ass?”
Girl: “Excuse you…I don’t understand
THOT Speak!”
