Written with a hyphen, the phrase author-cast refers to the author's equivalent of a fancast. It is the practice of casting celebrities as characters in your book. Originated in the fanfic-writing community and is very prevalent on Wattpad. However, there is still an issue with representation in author-casts.
"Hey, I just finished my author-cast, want to see?"
"Oh, cool! You have Idris Elba casted as the dad!"
"Yeah, he looks just like how I imagined him!"

Get the Author-Castmug. Also: Hype Casting
When an influencer, actor, or actress is cast in a role regardless of whether or not they're right for the role instead based on their trending status.
i.e. Pedro Pascal, Timothy Chalamet, and Zendaya were cast in the majority of blockbuster films in the early 2020s based on their ability to attract audiences and box office revenue regardless of their suitability for the role, or in some instances their talent.
Unlike Type Casting where an actor is reliably cast in a particular role.
i.e. the Action Hero is played by Jason Statham, regardless of the film

I wish they would put more effort into casting now a days it seems they just want to put the most Instagram, and Tiktok famous people in movies man, it sucks. Hype Casting totally ruins movies, cast people who can actually act!

Get the Hype Castmug. The word Cast Iron is a racial slur that has been used historically to degrade and dehumanize blacks. The word is still used by some people for this purpose, and it is seen as offensive and hurtful to blacks. If you are unsure about whether or not it is appropriate to use the word Cast Iron, it is best to err on the side of caution and avoid using it in any situation.

Get the Cast abumblemug. A sarcastic phrase and reference to a Bible tale of a prostitute being sentenced to being stoned to death where Jesus says, "let he who has never sinned, cast the first stone"
It is now commonly used as a way of saying someone has no room to judge you for an act, specifically if they have done it themselves.
