The act of a person who speaks English as a second language (esl) lying on purpose and then using their foreign accent and either feigned or real lack of knowledge of the English language as the reason behind his/her misunderstanding a situation.

Fake Foreigner

Pejorative name for often monolingual foreign passport holders who despite living their entire lives in the country they are based in, still introduce themselves as foreign citizens of a country from which they don't speak its official language and are unfamiliar with the local culture and customs.

"Coco keeps telling people she is from Argentina, but the other day she couldn't tell us what its capital was."

"Dude, she is a fake foreigner, didn't you know?"

"Fake foreigners can attend any university they want because they are excempt from taking the National College Entrance Examination."

"You can tell Vicky and David are fake foreigners because even-though they both claim to be from New Zealand, they only lived there for 6 months and can barely say a few words in English."
