Stands for ''Super Sport''. Very commonly used on General Motor's high performance models such as the Corvette, the Camaro, the Chevelle and the Nova. They also use this abreviation on more standard car such as the Impala, the Monte Carlo and the Malibu. Also use on unique vehicule such as the El Camino and the SSR. The SS cars come usualy with a bigger motor, reinforced suspension and chassis, stronger brakes and unique decorations on the exterior and interior of the car.
