In gay communities “bunting” is when u hang out with a gay guy under false pretenses and then when he makes a move you shut him down.

I hung out with this guy Dean who seemed like he wanted to do stuff but when I stepped up to the plate he threw me a curveball.

Sounds like he was bunting.
