A poorly run
school that doesn't even educate very many Oregonians (50% of the student body is from Oregon). 25% of the student body hails from sunny CA. The bulk of these students could NOT get into UC schools or even Cal State schools, so they end up in Eugene. Many are rich and arrogant.
Increasingly this
school is an extension of Nike. Dumb students and alumni think that is something to be proud of and love to flaunt the "O"... Their "O" logo was even designed by Nike. This further illustrates how backwards Oregon is... Philip Knight actually made this
school much worse with his Duck Athletics empire building. The
school spends millions of dollars on branding, putting flashy lipstick on an unremarkable
school. It's all quite tragic. As of
2022, it costs $15k/yr to attend this
school.
The smart faculty get out of Eugene because they know UO is a disgrace. Meanwhile the rest of the nation mocks the
school. The smart Oregonians DO NOT GO TO UO (AKA "You-Owe". Instead they go to Oregon State and more recently Portland State, or out-of-state. They literally need to bribe Oregonians with scholarship money to attend "You-Owe".
Here's another shocking figure. Between 1992 and 2022 the
school raised over $4.5b in philanthropy. All that money went to a sinking ship. They were not very strategic when it came to fundraising and are decades behind other institutions when it comes to job ready majors.
