A Tamura Flip is a very fast, acrobatic flip, that was popularised by retired animator turned character designer Hideki Tamura, himself influenced by surfing and skateboarding as well as martial arts.

Only a relative few anime shows before the 1990s have used the Tamura Flip, even though the flip’s acrobatics still remain very well known and influential to this day.
