an act or effort by a drug addict to trick or mislead another person to gain advantage.

Too many examples to list, but... 1."Give me the money and wait here and I'll go get change." (and the fiend never returns) -or- 2. A group of friends are out to eat and when it comes time to pay the bill, the fiend pulls a $100 bill from his wallet and says, "anyone have change?" (Of course no one does, and everyone has to pool money to pay for the fiends meal.)

Speed fiend 

College-age guys who abuse amphetamines such as ritalin, adderall, and dexedrine, not for the ADHD-benefit, but for euphoria, the high, and increased sexual stimulation. These "speed fiends" also crave meth, pseudoephedrine, caffeine, ephedrine, often cocaine, and any other "upper" they can get their hands on.

Jed is a big-time speed fiend. He snorted 200 mg of adderall a day for an entire week, spent the entire time jerking off, and then he ran out. He wound up buying ritalin (even though he can't stand it compared to adderall), just so he could continue the amphetamine high for another week.

shotgun fiend 

This is a person that will go to extreme lengths or will alter their usual behavior in order to gain the privilege of riding "shotgun". This person will often undermine all of his or her ethics or moral values to assure the position of the passengers seat in an automobile. This person is frequently looked down upon or shunned from the group riding with him, but that does not make a difference because riding shotgun is enough to numb the pain of being disgraced by his peers.
