A type of restaurant in which fat/obese Americans pay a set fee and then eat as much as they want. Said by theorists to be a major contribution to America's obesity problem.

Indeed, one of life's unanswered questions, is how the hell can the American hospitality sector not go into recession with the vulgar amounts that its customers shove down their throats at buffet restaurants.

buffet mode

During a shared meal, where various dishes are on the table at once (for example tapas), instead of taking a fair share of the different foods available, helping yourself to large portions of the choicest foods, piling the plate as in a buffet.

This will will leave fellow diners disgruntled when they realise all the spiced meatballs, prawns, anchovies and roasted aubergines are on your plate, but they will be too polite to complain in front of you.

"I am NEVER going out to dinner with Alex again!"

"Why not?"

"We ordered six different dishes to be shared between us and he took all the choicest bits from all of them. His plate was piled so high! He totally went into buffet mode, the greedy hog!"

Uncle Mung's Chunky Shrimp Buffet

A slang term popular in southern New England, used to describe the act of cunnilingus on an 'unclean' woman. This phrase is especially used within the context of women who are 'dirty' in terms of hygiene simply by choice, and care little for rectifying this issue.

"Yeah, so our friend was in the hospital for 2 weeks. He had 3 different infectious diseases, all of which were previously undiscovered to science."

"Holy crap! What did he do?"

"He had a reservation at Uncle Mung's Chunky Shrimp Buffet."

"Oh damn."

Date Buffer

A date buffer is a friend that you bring along when you hang out with someone that you're romantically interested in. The purpose of this is to make the excursion seem as if it wasn't a date, but more of a friendly gathering. In most cases though, the 'buffer' is ignored as a third wheel.

However, if you're NOT interested in the person, a date buffer can be used so that you don't send the wrong message.

1) "Dude, I wanna go out with that chick again, but I'm a wuss and I don't wanna go alone. Could you be by date buffer?"

2) "That guy's cool and all, but I don't really like him like that. Just be my date buffer today and I'll pay for your ticket."
