(2) However, the name is also derived from: as a Masculine English matronymic meaning, “Son of Alice.” (3) Alice derived from the Greek, “Aletheia,” meaning, “truth.” Depending on etymology, the name Allison and its other variations can either mean, “Noble kind/Sort, Aristocratic Kind/Sort, Glorious Kind/Sort/Appearance, Excellent Character or Truth.”
