Refers to an impromptu pause in labors that involve old newspapers --- such as cleanup or padding --- to read cartoons that you happen across as you're separating the leaves of the journals prior to using the paper sheets for their intended purpose in your task.
My boss takes a dim view of comics delays, so I just save out any newspaper-sheets that have cartoons on them, and then peruse said funnies during my coffee breaks.

Timmy loves Batman and meets Betty at the comic book shop. He's ecstatic until he sees that her pull stack is all Marvel. They will try to go on a few dates and make it work, but he will experience "comic woes" when ultimately Betty finds Batman too lame to even be able to stand the posters in Timmy's bedroom.

Comic books have been around for a long time but really started to be known in 1938 with Action Comics #1, or the first appearance of Superman. Since then comic books have been expanding and growing through different companies and brands.
You can find comics at your LCS (Local Comic Store), most of the time the people will be helpful and happy to help you find what you want. Support your local LCS everybody!
