The structures, social conventions, design, etc, in society that encourages and sometimes forces social interaction and the way it plays out and likewise what also discourages and sometimes punishes a person for not being social enough or in the right way. It's what motivates a lot of the social behaviour of a person that is not motivated by personal desire, culture or our evolutionary history.
