interactionism

1. A theoretical perspective in sociology.
2. As opposed to social responsibility. The structures, social conventions, design, etc, in society that encourages and sometimes forces social interaction and the way it plays out and likewise what also discourages and sometimes punishes a person for not being social enough or in the right way. It's what motivates a lot of the social behaviour of a person that is not motivated by personal desire, culture or our evolutionary history.
"Look Johnny at this example of interactionism in Facebook. Do you see that little icon? That means he has read my message and because he knows I've seen him read it, it encourages him to a quick response, otherwise I'll assume he's ignoring me andI'll get angry at him. Interactionism at its finest Johnny boy."

"Oh, look Johnny! Here's another social cause they want me to care about. Well, it's not like they are asking, they are telling me to. And a lot of people will do that simply because they can. The structures created by interactionism makes that possible. You should have lived with me in the golden days before internet Johnny."
