Entwife

Creature related to an ent, mentioned but never encountered in Lord of the Rings. The Entwives tended flowers in what is now the Brown Lands, whereas the Ents preferred the forests. A confusing idea - did ents and entwives produce little acorns? In which case, are they really one species, instead of two? And how did they manage it, if one lot lives in plains and the other in forests?

I always wanted to know what happened to the entwives and hoped they would turn up later in the book, but they didn't. Bugger.

Where the hell did the entwives go?

I've not seen him in three days - he's as elusive as an entwife.

You should tie up your loose ends - you don't want to leave entwives lying around.

Someone who takes a particular interest in a certain subject, topic, hobby, thing, place or activity to the point where they are experts on said subject. The enthusiast may devote large amounts of time and energy to their subject of interest. At times the subject may be considered esoteric and one's preoccupation with said topic may seem odd, excessive or obsessive to those not interested in it.

My friend James is a Kmart enthusiast. He's been traveling to all remaining Kmarts to take pictures and videos to document the department store chain's slow demise.

Entapment

Police officer sting operation in restroom to entrap persons soliciting gay sex by tapping foot to signal availability to person in adjacent bathroom stall.

Some have characterized the recent Minnesota restroom stall sting arrest of U.S. Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho) as entapment. The senator stands accused of tapping his toes to signal to an undercover police officer in the adjacent stall that he was soliciting gay sex.
