It is simply a cultural phenomenon that is characteristic of a society where the white race is seen as normal and everyone else is the exception or different. This societal characteristic creates an environment where whites, compared to everyone else, experiences more cultural affirmations of one's own worth; overall greater social status; and freedom to move, buy, work, play, and speak freely. The effects can be seen in professional, educational, and personal contexts. In other words - The concept of white privilege also implies the right to assume the universality of one's own experiences, marking others as different or exceptional while perceiving oneself as normal.
Examples of White Privilege:
-Rhonda being reprimanded at her office job because she chose to wear her natural hair.
-Arlen having to go to the "African American" section of the hair supply store just to find a hair brush.
-Mark having to wait until Black History Month before anyone mentions the contributions black people have made.
-Nancy turning on the news and hearing the term black on black crime but never white on white crime.
