Committing an act of epic trollery that ends up backfiring onto yourself. Could also be used to describe unintentional self-sabotage.

The act of pissing your pants in bed rather than walking down a dark hallway at night to risk being attack by a demon or other entity. (Springtrap is also a common one) Probably the most common childhood fear
Liam: Ay remember when we were kids and we kinda just accepted our fate and pissed ourselves cause we were afraid of Springtrap or Shane Dawson videos or some shit in the hallway? What would you call that?

A Self-Inflicted Flashbang is when a male is masturbating and he claps his own ears as hard as possible. The stream of seminal fluid is directed at his eyes.

An act that turns out to be against one's own best interests. A self-scam can often be a decision which creates more problems than it solves, or that causes more trouble than it's worth. Often used to describe actions that turn out to be bad financially, or that are time-inefficient.
Buying a car is a huge financial liability. It is basically a self-scam.
I realized the module I created was more of a self-scam, because it adds a bunch of new bugs to the codebase.
Stress is just a self-scam. It does not speed up the work, and causes more mistakes.

traffic management without the presence of traffic cops on the roads. Under such a system, drivers and pedestrians strictly obey the traffic rules, e.g. by following the traffic light system, as if there were traffic cops managing traffic.
Traffic self-management is like a hard nut to crack when it comes to implementing it.
