Get the sexual dissociative identity disordermug. The act of abusing the well-known and "automatically accepted" concept of identity theft (whereby a nameless criminal commits a crime and makes it appear that an innocent person did it) by falsely mentioning it to hopefully avert suspicion of criminal involvement --- the accused person does indeed commit one or more crimes himself, but then when questioned by authorities, the culprit claims to merely be an innocent ID-theft victim, and that somebody else must have committed the crimes in his name.
John claims that while he was golfing with his buddies, someone snuck into his car and used his laptop to send smutty e-mail messages. But I know what an "in the gutter" mindset he has, so I suspect that he's just hiding behind reverse identity theft.

Get the reverse identity theftmug. Can't be contingent upon arbitrary and peripheral elements of your identity. Because what happens when your societally assigned identity is "nigger?" Your whole thing breaks down at that point. "Incel" is just as arbitrary. But it's always going to be somebody if we accept your definition.

In bad cases, should the band break into the mainstream, they will suddenly disavow their fanship.
As a phenomenon, the term can be applied to individual artists. Most associated with genres with strong anti-authoritarian tendencies like punk, indie rock or hip hop, but can be applied to a wide range of situations, like random American fans of J-pop who really only like it because they can feel special, in contrast to true appreciators.
Sometimes associated with hipsters, or rather, their imitators.
Nevertheless everyone needs a dose of identity band sometimes. The opposite excess, where your playlist is entirely composed of songs off the top 40 lists, is a much worse sin.

You don't dictate the extent to which I am or am not Hym. My identity doesn't alter that fact that you are trying to steal my time and my labour. And you don't get to tell me that because I'm using a pseudonym it somehow de-legitimizes the contributions I've made. My identity isn't the problem here. My behavior isn't the problem here. And if you don't stop YOUR behavior and reveal YOUR identity, I AM GOING TO MURDER SOMEONE'S CHILD.
